The Suzhou Symphony Orchestra is set to embark on a musical journey in Algeria from May 11 to 19, showcasing a harmonious fusion of cultural melodies.

Led by conductor Chen Xieyang, the esteemed music director of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, the ensemble will collaborate with talented musicians from Algeria throughout the tour. The Algiers Opera House will serve as the grand stage for a captivating repertoire encompassing both Chinese musical compositions and Western masterpieces.

During the performances, conductors Lotfi Saidi and Chen will join forces to orchestrate captivating collaborations between Chinese and Algerian musicians. Audiences can anticipate the enchanting sounds of classic Chinese pieces like Dance of the Yao People, a composition by Liu Tieshan and Mao Yuan inspired by the rich folk music of the Yao ethnic group.

Additionally, the program will feature beloved arias from Western operas, including the evocative L'Arlesienne by French composer Georges Bizet and excerpts from Puccini's renowned opera Turandot. Noteworthy Chinese vocalists, tenor Zhang Tong and mezzo-soprano Wen Muya, will grace the stage, adding their distinctive flair to these iconic Western compositions, promising a musical experience that transcends borders and cultures.
